WHY BREATHERS?

Request for Brochure
Transformers are one of the key assets and most expensive equipment in electrical utilities and moisture is a key element affects the performance of the transformer badly starts from the abnormal DGA results, arcing, short circuit & failure of the equipment.

  • SMART MAINTENANCE FREE BREATHERS
  • ADVANTAGES

OVERALL BENEFITS TO THE USER

MODERN, SUPERIOR & VERSATILE

Zero Breather maintenancetill the lifetime of the equipment

Enhances the life of the transformer by eliminating moisture ingress through the silica gel

No environmental or disposal problems arising from consumed silica gel

Yearly procurement cost of silica gel, Procurement process, storage problems, replacement time

Man power is not required for the periodical inspection & intimation for replacement

Lowering operational expenses & extending service life

Reduction in GreenHouse Emissions.

TRADITIONAL/CONVENTIONAL BREATHERS

Traditional breathers contains a normal silica gel crystals. The color of the silica gel crystals is generally used as an indicator of when the silica should be replaced. It is dark blue when dry; when the gel absorbs moisture and becomes saturated, the color changes to pink (Figure shown below).
Traditional breathers require continual maintenance taking note of gel color changes indicating the need for replacement. The silica gel can be regenerated or discarded once the color changes Traditional breathers are generally a cost-effective solution for initial installation but require frequen servicing depending on moisture levels in the atmosphere thereby incurring additional cost every hal year once.

Disadvantages of Traditional Breathers

High risk for transformers if maintenance and replacement is not or is improperly carried out

Regular visual inspection required throughout the entire service life of the transformer to check the moisture level of the desiccant

Regular replacement of the desiccant approx. once in every 6 month is required throughout the entire service life of the transformer

Enormous costs due to frequent refilling of desiccant, in particular in regions with high humidity

Environmental impact, disposal problems, and considerable costs due to consumed desiccant

Ineffective dehydration

SMART MAINTENANCE FREE BREATHERS

The Smart Breather is the innovative technology for replacement for the traditional breathers which are being used in the transformers a over the many decades (Installation image shown below).
The Smart Breather contains a silica gel crystals which have a tremendous capacity of absorbing moisture. As air passes through these crystals in the breather, the moisture in the air is absorbed by the silica gel crystals. Once the Humidity of the silica gel crystals reached the preset limit, the Humidity sensor immersed in the desiccant triggers the signal to PLC therefore the breathing process of the transformer been shifted to the auxiliary chamber & the inbuilt Heater & exhaust fan activates the functions of heating of silica gel & exhaust the evaporated moisture from the system. Once the heating is completed it retrieves to the main silica gel chamber & the similar heating process has been activated in the auxiliary chamber to maintain the auxiliary system healthy all the time. This completely automated process repeats once in a year in general, based on the humidity level addressed in the silica gel. Therefore the transformer remains moisture free & attains the recommended PPM levels throughout the year.

Key Features of Smart Breathers

Humidity sensor - activate the system identifying the Humidity level in silica gel.

Heater - To dry out silica gel.

Exhaust Fan - exhaust moisture during heating process.

Microcontroller unit - initiate the automation process.

Graphic Interface Through RJ45

Data Storage - To maintain.

Desiccant Cobalt free & environmental friendly.

Remote/scade monitoring through RS485
